Dr. David Patrick Ryan is a Consulting Psychologist in aging, organizational behavior and continuing education.
He is Director of Education for the Regional Geriatric Program of Toronto and has clinical practices in acute and long-term care geriatrics at Sunnybrook & Women’s HSC. A member of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, he is Chair of Continuing Education for the Interdepartmental Division of Geriatrics.
In addition to his work in geriatrics, David has practiced, taught and researched in child and adolescent psychology and adult psychiatry. And, in the early days of portable videotape, David ran a community television network.
Presently, his research interests are in network building and distant continuing education. Dr. Ryan uses videoconferencing for consultation and multi-point CME, he has built and manages the Geriatric Forum an online educational outreach resource, developed a model for “wrapping” telehealth multi-media around rural and remote communities, and has recently released a series of online teaching case studies on dementia for medical education. In 1999, David won the Faculty of Medicine’s Fred Fallis Award for Distance Education.
As well, David is a Director of Openflows Networks Ltd., a network analysis and development organization.
